/// Why Some Freelance Journalists Need Life Insurance
Freelancing has become a popular way for many to make a living, but some freelance jobs are particularly dangerous. For instance, Medium recently pointed out that freelance reporters who work in war zones do not have the insurance that full-time reporters do, and that presents a problem.
The article mentioned the stories of several journalists who have been killed, jailed, or are still missing during their stint reporting in war torn countries. Unlike full-time journalists, they have no life insurance or even employers to pay for funeral costs or pay their bills while they are missing. That’s why the author, who is the founder of Storyhunter, is advocating for life insurance for freelancers.
Do you think this is a good idea? You can read more about it at Medium.
