In the latest musings on how Apple TV could be improved, ReadWrite threw out an interesting idea. It involves Apple TV becoming a lot more like Netflix, allowing users to watch any content they want at any time for one monthly fee.

Of course, this would all take place through iTunes, requiring the iTunes store to stop charging for users to rent or buy each movie or show and instead charge by the month. According to ReadWrite’s Dave Smith, “The iTunes Store’s 99-cent songs proved an excellent deterrent to online music piracy when it they debuted in 2003. Apple needs to push ahead with a similarly revolutionary pricing structure for streaming media. It needs to embrace the Netflix model to make the iTunes Store—and, by proxy, the Apple TV—a winner in the streaming age.”

What do you think of this idea? Do you think it will ever happen? You can read the full story at ReadWrite if you want to learn more.
