/// Facebook Buys WhatsApp
If you haven’t heard, Facebook is paying $16 billion to buy WhatsApp. As The Verge reports, Mark Zuckerberg believes this messaging app will complement Facebook messages perfectly, so it won’t be replacing the current messaging system on the social media site.
Zuckerberg also explained that the goal for now is to increase the growth of WhatsApp, adding to the more than 450 million who already use the app each month. In fact, he said that WhatsApp is on track to get 1 billion users, which makes it a valuable asset. If you’re worried about any changes being made to the app now – such as the addition of advertisements – you can relax and know that WhatsApp’s co-founder and CEO Jan Koum is going to join Facebook’s board of directors and is focused on avoiding interruption of the service.
