At its headquarters in Cupertino today, Apple officially took the lid off of its two new iPhones , the iPhone 5s and the cheaper iPhone 5c. It also promised a Sept. 18 release date for its new mobile operating system, iOS7, and showed off fingerprint-scanning technology that can work as an alternative to a passcode for unlocking the phones and making purchases in the iTunes store.
