/// Facebook Changes Give Brands a Little More Freedom When Running Promotions

Facebook just changed its terms of service in a way that makes it easier than ever to use the social media site for business promotions. More specifically, now it’ll be faster and simpler for business owners to post contests and engage audiences. According to Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz, these are some of the main changes to look for on Facebook:

  • Brands can now gather entries for contests by requesting that users comment on or like their FB brand page.
  • Brands no longer need the FB app to run promotions, as long as the promotions are kept to the brand’s page – not users’ personal profiles.
  • Contest winners can now be notified through FB chat, messages, and timelines.

But take note of one stricter regulation: Brands are not allowed to tag users in photos they are not in, and don’t even think about asking users to tag themselves in photos in order to enter a contest. It’s no longer allowed.

If you’re not sure what the changes mean for you in particular, check out Facebook’s new Promotions Guidelines, which you can download to find answers to the most common questions. Additionally, you’ll find some tips on how to use Facebook for brand promotion.
