Sunita Kaur, former advertising director for Facebook, has joined streaming music service Spotify to be the company’s Director for Asia. Kaur joins Spotify as it gears up for a larger push into the Asia Pacific region, on the heels of Spotify’s launch in eight new markets in April, including Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. Spotify did not specify any new Asian countries it plans to launch in. Along with managing Spotify’s Asian growth, Kaur will also lead the region’s sales division. Kaur spent the last two and a half years as director of Asia at Facebook, where she also managed the social giant’s expansion into Asia and dealt with regional sales. Previous to this, Kaur also spent time in managerial roles for the Asian and international ad divisions of Forbes, Time Inc, Singapore Press Holdings and Microsoft Advertising. She’ll be based in Spotify’s Singapore office.
