According to analytics firm Flurry , at least 17.4 million iOS and Android devices were activated on Christmas Day, up from the average of 4 million devices that Flurry saw between Dec. 1 and Dec. 20 and from 6.8 million device activations on Christmas 2011. What’s more, while smartphones make up 80 percent of activations on a typical day, Christmas saw a roughly even split between tablets and phones. “On this Christmas Day 2012, more iPhones, iPads, Galaxys, Kindle Fires, and more, were activated than on any other day in history,” Flurry said in a blog post . Overall, a record number of devices were activated on Christmas, and a record number of apps downloaded as well. Flurry estimated that 328 million apps were downloaded, up from an average of 155 million per day earlier in the month and more than 250 million last Christmas .
