SquareTrade, the gadget-warranty company that occasionally puts devices through the ringer to test their durability, has put out its latest wacky masterpiece: iPad mini vs. Nexus 7 vs. iPad 3. In this drop-and-dunk test, SquareTrade’s “Drop Bot” holds each device with a mechanical arm about four feet above the ground and drops the tablets on their corners and displays. Afterwards, each tablet is submerged in a bucket of water for 10 seconds. The iPad mini held up surprisingly well. What happened to the third-generation iPad, though, might surprise you.
