/// T-Mobile to Bake Free Malware Protection Into Many of Its Android Devices
T-Mobile plans to announce later on Wednesday a deal with Lookout to include some of that firm’s mobile security features on its Android devices. Automatic App Security, as the free product will be known, will have Lookout scan any app that is downloaded for potential threats and notify the user if there is anything to worry about. The product works automatically without any input from a user, though it can be uninstalled if a consumer wants to go with a different — or no — security software. There will be a $2.99-per-month option for those who want to upgrade to Lookout’s full security software, which also includes features to help find or erase a lost device, as well as additional privacy protections. T-Mobile is slated to start including Automatic App Security on some Android phones next month, and plans to include it on most Android devices beginning in January. The LG Optimus L9 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 will be the first devices to come with the new security software.
