Want a job at a digital company based in New York City? You should have been looking earlier this year, says a headhunting shop. Cook Associates Executive Search says hiring at “pure play” Internet and digital companies in New York has been slowing down throughout 2012. Cook says hiring at digital companies increased by 3.2 percent in the third quarter of 2012, down from 5.6 percent in Q2 and 6.2 percent in Q1. Cook offers a variety of reasons for the slowdown, ranging from Web-specific conditions — a tapering in VC funding to global ones — it’s the economy, stupid.
