Big Bird may have gone to Congress to push the government to preserve public broadcasting budgets, but that doesn't mean the Sesame Street character likes to be in the thick of political fights, especially political ads. Sesame Workshop has requested that Big Bird be taken out of a new ad by the Obama campaign that attacks GOP challenger Mitt Romney. “Sesame Workshop is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization and we do not endorse candidates or participate in political campaigns. We have approved no campaign ads, and as is our general practice, have requested that the ad be taken down,” the statement said. The famous big yellow bird made headlines and dominated Twitter posts since last week's presidential debate when Romney said that while be likes Bird Bird and and Jim Lehrer, he would cut PBS' funding. That sent the twitterverse into a panic, as well as a few members of Congress that have defended PBS funding over the years. In a new ad , the Obama campaign capitalizes on frenzy, mocking Romney's debate statement with some clever tongue-in-cheek copy.
