As VP US Adsales, Jon oversees all elements of the ad business in the US from building the team, developing the strategy and working closely with our clients and partners. He looks at how Spotify plays a role for brands when they want to connect with music, large audiences and technology. From the Spotify side, he is also spearheading the surge in online audio and how this marketplace will become increasingly important for marketers.
He has been at Spotify for over 4 years and as the founding member of Spotify UK, he built the ad business and then became Managing Director. In January 2011 he moved to the US to launch and build the ad business. The US team now has offices and teams in NYC, Chicago, LA and San Francisco. He has a passion for audio as comms channel and is very excited about how Spotify can take its raw data into shape it into incredible branding campaigns.
Prior to Spotify Jon worked in Radio in the UK between 2000 and 2008, working across brands such as Capital FM, Classic FM, Pepsi Chart/Hit40UK and trade products like Newslink.
Jon is a passionate cricket fan and skier but his passion for certain musical artists have resulted in a ban influencing the office music playlist. He is still trying to educate the team on the merits of Michael Bublé….as he points out he had the 2nd biggest selling album of 2011.
