Research in Motion is firing 2,000 workers – 10 percent of its workforce – and re-organizing a layer of its top managers. The moves are intended to help the company compete with Apple and Google, whose iOS and Android platforms are overwhelming its once-dominant BlackBerry line. Unaffected by the moves: Co-CEOs Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis.
