/// SpotMixer to Launch New Social Video Editing App Called Vlix [NetworkEffect]
The social photo-sharing craze has a natural corollary in video. But everything is harder about videos: they take more time to record, they are more intimate, have a greater capacity to entertain or bore, and the larger files are much harder to process and transfer–especially over mobile Internet connections. So companies with experience in online video, like Justin.tv and SpotMixer , are now extending their expertise to mobile video apps inspired by the success of photo apps like Instagram. Justin.tv launched Socialcam in March and now SpotMixer–a video ad creator that also operates the consumer video site One True Media, which has five million users–is launching the iPhone app Vlix. In addition to mobile video capture and posting to Vlix, YouTube and Facebook, the Vlix app offers simple video altering with effects: reverse, slo-mo, color correction, black-and-white and even sparkles (think: Myspace slideshow embed). But this is pretty basic: clips can be no longer than a minute and the only real editing is clipping or overlaying text.
