David Curcurito became design director of Esquire in March 2005. Over the last decade, Curcurito has worked as the creative director of The Source, Complex, and American Express Publishing/Custom Publishing Solutions.
At Complex from 2003 to 2004, Cucurito created the look and feel for one of the most unique men’s magazines in the marketplace. The magazine combines sports, music and men’s lifestyle interests with a dynamic visual look.
During Curcurito’s tenure at The Source from 1998 to 2002, the magazine was a finalist for “General Excellence” at the 2000 National Magazine Awards. Curcurito also participated in the magazine’s various television and radio projects. Additionally, he served as creative director for The Source Sports magazine from 1997 to 2000.
Earlier in his career, Curcurito was art director for Manhattan File magazine from 1996 to 1998, and associate art director of Penthouse from 1991 to 1996. The Society of Publication Design also awarded Curcurito with numerous merit awards in recent years.
